Moonset at Sunrise
Eastern Sierra
This view of the Eastern Sierra from White Mountain Road is a classic one. With the full moon days waning, I made the drive up here one morning hoping I would still be able to catch the moon, unobstructed, before it dropped below the horizon and still have the colorful light of sunrise lighting up the Sierras. On the last possible morning to get the moon while it was still fairly full, my efforts were rewarded with a perfect setting. The sun was still low enough that it gave me this beautiful purple light but was not so strong that it washed out the moon. A perfect exposure really brought out the details in the moon as well. I love this shot!
