Sunbeam on Bridalveil
Yosemite NP, CA
Tunnel View is one of the most popular pull-outs in Yosemite National Park. It offers views of El Capitan, Clouds Rest, Half Dome, Cathedral Rocks and Bridalveil Fall, as well as one of the most sweeping views of Yosemite Valley in the park. At sunset, the crowds of tourists converge on this area making photography a difficult prospect. But, if you get there early and stake your claim on a spot, you have a chance to get some beautiful images. On this particular evening, the sun was partially obscured by clouds and the light breaking through swept across the valley like a ribbon leading up to the falls as if it were a waterfall of light originating from the top of Bridalveil Fall. I snapped off several images as this ribbon of light traveled up the side of the granite cliffs but this image with the light leading to the top of the fall was the one, in my opinion... a new twist on the "classic" Bridalveil View.
