Dead Horse Point
Moab, UT

The Colorado River bends and winds through the western landscape as it flows along, carving out canyons. This gooseneck visible from Dead Horse Point State Park is a fine example of how the river has shaped the land, and vice-versa, over time.
For this particular shot, I set out before daylight and ventured to the west of the standard overlook in the park. Climbing over rocks and part way down the side of a cliff, perched on a rock that was seemingly held in place purely by virtue of it's own weight, I was extremely nervous. I took time to fire a couple series of images before I decided it would be prudent to find more stable ground.
