Horseshoe Bend

Among the many beautiful sights around the Page, Arizona area, is this fantastic example of how the Colorado River bends and twists across the western landscape. Horseshoe Bend is located just south of Page on the main highway leading into town. It is well marked, and after parking in the gravel parking area, is only a short half mile hike to the edge of a cliff wall overlooking this view of the river. The evening I took this shot was a rather stormy one and I was able to catch a small reflection of the storm clouds in the river before the wind picked up and turned the glassy surface of the river to ripples.
